London-based poet and actor Lucas Jones, known for his viral spoken word performances on themes of grief, masculinity, and current events, has released a new reel titled "Bondi Beach" on Instagram.
Posted shortly after the December 14, 2025, terrorist attack at a Hanukkah celebration near Sydney's Bondi Beach, the video features Jones performing an original poem reflecting on the carnage.
The attack, Australia's deadliest terror incident in modern history, saw two gunmen, identified as Sajid Akram and his son Naveed Akram, open fire on the crowd, killing 15 people and injuring dozens. Authorities described it as inspired by Islamic State ideology, with ISIS flags and improvised explosives found in the suspects' vehicle. Victims included a 10-year-old girl named Matilda, Holocaust survivor Alexander Kleytman, assistant rabbi Eli Schlanger, French national Dan Elkayam, and Russian-Jewish couple Boris and Sofia Gorman, among others ranging in age from 10 to 87.
