Bereaved Israeli mother Sabine Taasa, who lost her husband Gil and son Or during the October 7 Hamas attacks, halted a screening of the award winning documentary NAZA in Delft, Netherlands, to address the audience directly about her family's murder.
Taasa stepped onto the stage during the screening to confront filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor regarding the portrayal of the war and the exclusion of the Hamas massacres. Addressing the theater, she declared her identity and intent to present her personal account of the tragedy.
"My name is Sabine Taasa, I am a mother of four boys," Taasa said to the crowd despite immediate jeers and shouting. "I survived the October 7 massacre. I came here to tell my story."
As mocking laughter and shouts echoed from the audience, Taasa continued speaking to the room, refusing to be silenced. She noted her proximity to the border and highlighted the violent loss suffered by her family.
"My name is Sabine Taasa and I came from Israel to tell you the truth," Taasa said. "Look me in the eyes. Are you talking about collateral damage? My husband and my son were murdered by Hamas terrorists. Where does that appear in your film?"
Audience members reacted aggressively to her presence, shouting insults including "Shame on you" and "We do not care" in an effort to drown out her voice. Taasa was accompanied by Avihai Shorshan, chief executive officer of the organization Ad Kan, who attempted to project video documentation of the October 7 massacre directly onto the cinema screen using a portable projector.
The movement led to physical confrontations inside the theater as several audience members attempted to block the projection. Following the event, Shorshan condemned the reception Taasa received and criticized the film's narrative.
"The collateral damage to the State of Israel as a result of this false film is unimaginable," said Ad Kan CEO Avihai Shorshan, as reported by REUTERS. "This brainwashing can only be corrected through swift action to expose false witnesses and confront them with the truth. We will not accept the spread of antisemitism in Europe, and we will continue to fight."
