Northern District police and Border Police forces uncovered a dangerous weapon concealed in an unusual manner near a cemetery in Nazareth during a targeted operation against organized crime in the city.
The raid was launched following specific intelligence indicating combat equipment hidden in an open area. Forces arriving at the scene began extensive searches, during which they identified a suspicious pile of stones.
Officers began digging beneath the stone pile, where they discovered an animal carcass that had been placed to deter passersby and mask the scent. After removing the carcass, they spotted a suspicious bag, containing a Kalashnikov assault rifle.
The weapon was immediately seized and transferred to the Israel Police Forensic Identification Division for further evidence extraction, with the aim of producing forensic findings that will lead to the indictment and arrest of the criminal who concealed the rifle.
The Israel Police stated: "The Israel Police will continue to act resolutely against violence and the detection of illegal combat equipment, in order to maintain public security and bring those involved to justice."
