K-9 unit signals suspicious spot during targeted sweep in Arab city; officers dig up concealed weapon and send it for forensic testing
Officers from the Um al-Fahm station, together with tactical brigade fighters and a police K-9 handler, conducted a sweep in an open area of the Arab city as part of Israel Police's campaign against illegal weapons in the Arab sector.
During the targeted search, the police dog signaled a suspicious spot in the ground. Officers dug at the location and found a weapon that had been concealed and buried in the earth.
The weapon was seized and transferred to the Israel Police forensic identification laboratory for further evidence processing.
"Israel Police will continue to operate proactively and offensively to locate illegal weapons, wherever criminals attempt to hide them, in order to prevent shooting incidents and strengthen public security," the police said in a statement.
