Yaki Reisner on his Divorce: It Hurts a Lot

Businessman Yaki Reisner, who divorced his wife Toby about a year and a half ago after 27 years of marriage and five children together, spoke candidly in a personal interview with journalist Omri Assenheim on Channel 13 about the painful separation, the decision to divorce, and the special relationship he continues to maintain with his ex-wife.

Reisner is co-owner of the Residor real estate group, a film producer, and the host of the chareidi matchmaking show "Vort." In April 2025, he announced his separation from his wife Toby after nearly three decades of married life. The couple has five children together, and at the time of the separation already had two daughters-in-law and two granddaughters.

In the interview on the "Assenheim" program on Channel 13, Reisner shared about his personal struggle with the divorce and the emotional difficulty that led to the decision to end the marriage.

"It's a painful process, but in the end when you understand that you're doing it both correctly and at the right time, and also out of necessity, when you understand that your soul is no longer able to bear it anymore, and you're doing it in a good way too, then it's okay," Reisner recounted.

He emphasized that despite the separation, he continues to maintain a good and respectful relationship with his ex-wife Toby, with whom he built a family and raised their five children.

"I respect my ex-wife, I can almost say that I love her today more than before," Reisner said. Later he struggled to hold back tears when speaking about their relationship and added: "She is my partner, she is the mother of my children, it hurts me very much."

When Reisner announced the divorce in April of last year, he published a personal post in which he addressed the joint decision to separate after 27 years of marriage. In his words, he clarified that the two tried to preserve the family unit, but ultimately reached the conclusion that they could not continue their life together.

Reisner then described the separation as recognition of a painful reality, and emphasized that despite the end of the marriage, they are proud of the family they built together and of their five children, whom he called diamonds.

He further clarified at that time that he and Toby are separating with mutual respect, appreciation and care for one another, and with a desire to continue maintaining family relationships even after the divorce.

In the months that have passed since the separation, Reisner has continued to address from time to time the importance of maintaining a respectful relationship between spouses who have divorced. Among other things, he clarified that for him, his children are the most important project in his life, and that Toby will remain his partner in raising the family and in future family celebrations.
