A new initiative in the haredi world is drawing attention for its unusual technological stance: Hashomrim, an organization focused on guarding against the dangers of modern technology, has announced the creation of a database of graphic designers who commit to avoiding all use of artificial intelligence in their work.
The announcement, which appeared in a Hashomrim bulletin, calls for graphic designers, men and women, who refrain entirely from using AI tools or content generated by artificial intelligence to register in a central directory that will be made available to the public.
The initiative was discussed on the "Davar Rishon" program, hosted by Moshe Manes and Yisrael Meir. The hosts responded to the AI-free graphics initiative with a mix of humor and respect. They joked about the possibility of a return to hand-drawn graphics and old-fashioned photography equipment, but expressed deep appreciation for individuals who set boundaries and safeguards in their use of technology and smart devices.
