An 8-month-old boy died Friday after a vehicle struck him and his family in the parking lot of NPGS, a kosher supermarket in Jackson, New Jersey. Yitzchok Rosenberg was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he was pronounced dead. His mother, Golda Chana, and his 5-year-old sister Rachel were seriously injured and remain hospitalized in stable condition.
The crash occurred just before noon in the parking lot near West County Line Road. The vehicle struck the family as it was leaving the shopping center.
Two people face charges in connection with the incident. Maria Cobon-Guzman, 20, of Trenton has been charged with death by auto, two counts of vehicular assault, and driving without a license—a violation in New Jersey and every other state. Ariadna Lazaro-Flores, 22, of Toms River is charged with permitting an unlicensed driver to operate a vehicle. Both remain in custody at the Ocean County jail.
The local community is asking for prayers for Golda Chana bat Leah Sheindel and Rachel bat Golda Chana as they recover from their injuries.
