Amidst the intensifying conflict of "Operation Roaring Lion," Israel’s Chief Rabbis, **Rabbi David Yosef and Rabbi Kalman Ber, have issued a rare joint directive to the public regarding the upcoming Purim holiday.

The Chief Rabbis emphasized that the religious obligation to hear the Megillah is superseded by the immediate need to protect human life.

"It is our absolute duty to adhere to Home Front Command instructions in full. If a siren is heard during the reading of the Megillah, you must stop immediately and go to the protected space."

The Rabbis clarified that there is no halakhic "exemption" for those engaged in mitzvot when a direct missile threat is present.

The statement concluded with a call for national spiritual mobilization: "In these fateful days, we are commanded to increase our prayers and supplications before the Almighty... May we merit in these days of Purim a great salvation and the crown of victory."

This religious ruling aligns with the latest IDF Home Front Command protocols for March 1, 2026, which prohibit large gatherings in open areas across Central Israel and the Jerusalem district due to the threat of high-explosive ballistic missiles.

"Safety is the highest priority. The Megillah can be resumed once the 'All Clear' is given, but a life lost cannot be restored," a representative from the Chief Rabbinate added.

Synagogues across the country are reportedly coordinating "staggered" readings in smaller groups to ensure everyone has access to a protected space within the required 90-second window.
