A 20-year-old driver was killed Friday morning in a fatal collision between his private vehicle and an empty bus on Route 90 near the Allenby crossing junction, police confirmed.
The accident occurred at 6:31 a.m. when a private car collided with an Egged bus traveling on Route 90. The impact left the driver of the private vehicle trapped in the wreckage, unconscious, with no pulse or respiration and severe multi-system injuries.
Magen David Adom paramedics arrived at the scene and conducted resuscitation efforts, but the extent of the injuries proved fatal. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
"This was a terrible road accident between an empty bus and a private vehicle," said MDA paramedic Menachem Rosek, who was among the first responders. "The driver of the private car was trapped, unconscious, with no pulse and no breathing, with injuries affecting multiple body systems. We performed medical assessments, but his injuries were severe and we were forced to confirm his death at the scene."
The bus driver, a 66-year-old man, was transported to Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem in light condition for medical evaluation.
Police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of the accident. Officers from the Border Police station at Beit Hogla, along with investigators and traffic accident examiners from the Samaria and Judea district, are examining the scene and gathering evidence.
In response to the accident, Route 90 between Beit Hogla and Kasr al-Yahud was closed to traffic in both directions. Police are asking drivers to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
The incident marks another fatal collision on Israel's roads, adding to the string of traffic fatalities in recent weeks.
