Man, 30, killed in head-on crash on Route 232 during Chol Hamoed

A man in his thirties was killed in a head-on collision between two vehicles on Route 232, on the stretch between Kibbutz Ivim and Beror Hayil. Emergency crews who arrived at the scene were forced to pronounce him dead, and evacuated two additional victims to the hospital in moderate condition.

Large rescue forces were dispatched to the scene following the report of the serious crash. Medics and paramedics provided initial medical treatment at the site, but due to the severity of the impact and the critical multi-system injuries suffered by the man trapped in the vehicle, crews had no choice but to pronounce his death at the scene.

Nehorai Darshan, Yechiel Rosenberg and Chaim Sasi, United Hatzalah medics, reported: "This is a very serious crash scene involving two vehicles. Unfortunately, a man around 30 years old was pronounced dead at the scene due to the nature of the severe injuries he sustained. In addition, we provided medical treatment to two additional victims who were injured moderately and lightly."

Magen David Adom paramedics Ariel Elbaz and Adam Gustavo, who treated victims at the scene, described the difficult sights: "We saw a crushed vehicle with significant body damage, and inside it a man around 30 years old was trapped, unconscious, without a pulse and without breathing, with very severe injuries to his body. During the extrication operations we performed medical checks, but unfortunately his injuries were critical and we had no choice but to pronounce his death. At the same time, we treated and evacuated to Barzilai Hospital two men around 40 years old in moderate condition with injuries to their bodies."

Israel Police announced it has opened an investigation into the circumstances of the fatal crash. Officers from the Sderot station and traffic accident investigators from the Southern District arrived at the scene, are working to regulate traffic at the site and are collecting findings for the investigation into the circumstances of the serious incident.
