Ahmad Tibi has rejected a proposal from a reconciliation committee about how Arab parties should unite for the upcoming elections. Tibi heads the Ta'al party.
The disagreement over the committee's framework proved so contentious that one committee member resigned from the position. With negotiations between the committee and Tibi at an impasse, Ta'al now finds itself excluded from the emerging alliance, while Hadash and Balad have already reached agreement to run together.
Balad welcomed the committee's decision. Hadash initially showed some hesitation, as party members had hoped to see all three factions unite under a single banner that would include Ta'al. The political future of Tibi and his party remains uncertain at this stage.
Hadash issued a statement supporting the reconciliation committee's decision and calling on all parties to accept it: "Hadash welcomes the reconciliation committee's decision. Victory over the Netanyahu-Ben Gvir-Smotrich government depends on a large and strong Joint List."
The party added: "We respect the committee's decision and see it as an expression of the public's will, and we must all honor that."
