Itamar Sasovar, a communications consultant who previously served as adviser to National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, is joining the newly established political party led by Gilad Erdan and Yuli Edelstein.
Last Thursday, Erdan—Israel's ambassador to the United Nations and a former cabinet minister—announced the formation of a new right-wing party alongside Edelstein, a former Knesset member and speaker. In his announcement, Erdan sharply criticized Likud, the party he belonged to for over three decades, saying he could "no longer call it home."
"This is one of the hardest days of my life, but also one of the most important," Erdan said. "Tonight I am parting from the political home where I grew up for more than 30 years. Unfortunately, I can no longer call it home. Likud's elected officials no longer represent the Likud voters whom I love so much."
Erdan pledged that the new party would not join any narrow coalition government. "All my life I have been a man of the right. I have never zigzagged. I believe in the Land of Israel. I believe in settlement, I believe in governance. And I am firmly opposed to the establishment of a Palestinian state. But I also believe the time has come to restore to the right what it has lost in recent years: responsibility, Beitar dignity, and mutual respect," he stated.
"I strongly oppose the left's positions. But I have never hated those who think differently from me. I have never spoken about someone's origins, their family, or their lifestyle. Because a political rival is not the enemy. Our enemies are in Tehran, in Gaza, and in Lebanon."
