IDF destroys 4 Gaza weapons depots

Strikes targeted storage sites holding rockets, mortars and explosives; three terror operatives eliminated in separate operations as ceasefire violations continue

IDF Destroys Four Hamas and PIJ Weapons Depots Across Gaza Strip

IDF and Shin Bet forces struck four weapons storage facilities belonging to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, the military announced. The depots held dozens of munitions of various types, according to the IDF statement.

The destroyed facilities contained rockets, explosive devices, mortar shells, Kalashnikov rifles and additional combat equipment. The strikes were carried out to degrade the terror organizations' capabilities in Gaza and prevent any attempt to rebuild or maintain weapons stockpiles for use against IDF forces.

Prior to the strikes, advance warnings were issued to the civilian population to minimize the risk of harm, in addition to the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance. IDF forces under Southern Command remain deployed across the area in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to act against any immediate threat.

The operations add to a series of military actions the IDF has carried out in recent days in Gaza. On Thursday, the IDF eliminated three terrorists from Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad who were advancing terror operations against IDF forces and Israeli civilians and systematically violating the ceasefire agreement. The terrorists were killed in airstrikes in Gaza City and the Furqan area.

Among those eliminated: Hussam Walid Hassan Abu al-Ata, a commander in the rocket unit of Palestinian Islamic Jihad's military wing, killed in Gaza City; Majdi Ma'in Yusuf al-Ayoubi, a terrorist in Palestinian Islamic Jihad's military wing, killed in Gaza City; and Muhammad Aja, a company commander in Hamas's military wing, killed in the Furqan area.

According to the IDF, the terrorists had recently been working to restore the terror organizations' capabilities in the Strip and were advancing terror operations against IDF forces and Israeli citizens. Their activities constituted a systematic violation of the ceasefire agreement signed between Israel and the terror organizations in Gaza.
