Bar-Ilan University announced Monday that it has suspended a mathematics lecturer following the filing of an indictment accusing him of planning a mass terror attack against Arab and Bedouin civilians with the aim of encouraging transfer, and of attempting to blackmail Zehut chairman Moshe Feiglin after Feiglin refused to cooperate with him. The suspension will remain in effect until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
"Bar-Ilan University condemns and is shocked by the actions attributed to the lecturer in the indictment," the university stated. "The university administration calls on the police and the prosecution to bring him to justice with the full severity of the law if the allegations are proven true."
The statement further clarified that "the university has shown and will show zero tolerance for such phenomena, which are contrary to the values of all of us as Jews, as Israelis and as human beings, and certainly to the values of Bar-Ilan University. The lecturer has been suspended immediately pending the outcome of the proceedings."
