Israeli Media Error

Daughter Responds to Media Mix-Up

After Channel 14 mistakenly identified her mother as a controversial figure, the daughter clarified: "That's not her, that's my mom. They don't even look alike"

Channel 14's Serious Identification Error

A video report from Israeli "Channel 14" continues to generate controversy online after the news outlet mistakenly attempted to interview the wrong woman, believing her to be Yifat Tomer Yerushalmi, the former Isreli Military Advocate General, who was dismissed from the IDF due to suspicion of leaking confidential  details from the "Sde Teman" affair.

The daughter of the woman who appeared in the footage took to social media to set the record straight. "That's not the former MAG, that's my mom," she wrote. "There are always news crews here because she lives next door to her, and my mom thought they wanted to ask general questions about our infamous neighbor.

She added that her mother declined to speak with reporters because she didn't want to appear in the news. "I don't know how, but they thought it was her. They don't even look alike," the daughter noted.

Following the error and criticism from numerous journalists, Channel 14 issued a clarification statement outlining what led to the mistake. According to the statement, "the woman who was filmed was walking behind the building where Yifat Tomer Yerushalmi resides.

"Channel 14" explained that a man who appeared to be Yerushalmi's husband was accompanying the woman, and that "the woman who was filmed bears a strong resemblance to Yifat Tomer Yerushalmi". The statement also claimed that "the woman who was filmed responded to the name Yifat and did not deny a connection when asked questions about the affair in which Yifat Tomer Yerushalmi is involved".

Despite these factors, "Channel 14" acknowledged the error. "In light of the doubts that have arisen, the report has been removed from the platforms on which it was published and we will conduct a re-examination",the statement concluded.
