Eight South Korean Students Breach Headquarters of U.S. Air Force Base in Pyeongtaek

Eight South Korean students were detained today, after breaching Osan Air Base in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, according to reports from Yonhap News Agency and the Associated Press.

The students, who belong to the Korean Progressive University Student Union, entered the base at approximately 10:15 a.m. while chanting anti-U.S. slogans including "Let's smash the U.S. 7th Air Force." Six of the protesters managed to enter the compound itself, while two others were stopped at the main gate.

U.S. military personnel detained the protesters inside the base and subsequently handed them over to South Korean police. According to South Korean authorities, all eight face charges under the Military Base Protection Act.
