EU issues new guidelines urging citizens to prepare 72-hour emergency supplies

The European Commission has released new guidelines calling on citizens to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours during a major crisis. The standards were presented by Hadja Lahbib, EU Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management, at the European Civil Protection Forum in Brussels. The guidelines establish a 72-hour emergency "grab bag" as the EU standard for crisis preparedness.
