EU paid extra €127 billion for fossil fuels due to Strait of Hormuz closure

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz has resulted in an additional €127 billion (approximately $142 billion) in fossil fuel import costs for the European Union.
