Pollster and strategist Shlomo Filber responded today (Friday) to Avigdor Liberman's dramatic announcement that he would sit with the chareidi parties in exchange for a soft draft law.
In his remarks, Filber said: "I don't know how the political saga will end. I'm also not sure that Liberman, Bennett or Eisenkot accurately predicted the election results, or the situation they've found themselves in."
"One thing can be said with greater certainty. Liberman's performance of protection and extortion, demanding the premiership with center votes plus defectors from Likud, was his plan for many months before the election. Winter was supposed to be a central axis in it."
Filber continued: "But three things went wrong for Liberman: 1. Winter was marked as dangerous to the right, and his attempt to take right-wing votes was thwarted. 2. The Arabs surged and doubled their strength, which reduced the power of all the parties, Likud, Bennett, the chareidim and especially Liberman, who had built on double digits. 3. Netanyahu's armor and the Likud primaries dramatically reduced the camp of potential defectors on which Liberman had built."
