FlyDubai co-pilot confesses attempted crash was second try, planned attack since July
Hamam al-Hammami, the FlyDubai co-pilot accused of attempting to crash Flight 1073 near Tel Aviv, told investigators this was his second attempt to carry out an attack. He had prepared the same operation in July but abandoned it because he cared about a crew member. The Omani national actively sought employment at airlines flying to Israel, intending to incapacitate the captain and crash into a target such as Ben Gurion Airport. Oman Air had previously barred him from flying due to extremism concerns, but FlyDubai hired him without checking with Omani authorities.
