Former IDF commander ordered to pay MK 35,000 shekels for false statements

Former Southern Command chief Dan Harel has been ordered to pay 35,000 shekels to MK Tzvi Sukkot for making false statements about him in a television interview. Harel had claimed on "Meet the Press" that a battalion and a half had been diverted to guard Sukkot's sukkah in Huwara on the eve of the massacre. Judge Mizrahi rejected Harel's claims and also dismissed a counter-lawsuit that Harel filed against Sukkot and Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan. The judge sharply criticized Harel in the ruling.
