An Israeli transparency organization has filed a petition with the Jerusalem District Court seeking to compel the Prime Minister's Office to release information about Sara Netanyahu's trip to Washington on March 23, which took place during heightened tensions with Iran.
The Movement for Freedom of Information claims the Prime Minister's Office failed to respond to its requests for information within the timeframe mandated by Israel's Freedom of Information Law. The group is now asking the court to order the office to provide details about the trip, particularly regarding the state's involvement in organizing and financing it.
"The public interest concerns the possibility that state funds, ministry employees, and its authorities were used for the trip," the movement stated. According to the organization, disclosure of the information is necessary to clarify the purpose of the trip and the Prime Minister's Office's role in it.
The movement argues that releasing the information would enable examination of whether the trip served a state purpose within the ministry's official functions, what justified the ministry's participation in organizing and funding it, who was included in the delegation and under what authority, who bore each expense, and whether required approval and oversight procedures were followed.
