The Health Ministry has instructed the water supplier to take corrective action and conduct additional water quality tests. The abnormal results emerged from routine sampling of the city's drinking water supply.
Karmiel Mayor Moshe Koninsky asked professional staff from the municipality and the Ein Karmim water corporation to investigate the source of the contamination. The city has provided bottled drinking water to kindergartens throughout Karmiel.
The Water Authority is conducting additional sampling, with results expected Wednesday. The municipality plans to issue another update by evening.
"I ask residents to strictly follow the Health Ministry's instructions," Mayor Koninsky stated. "We are working with professional authorities to determine the source of the contamination and address the issue. The municipality provided drinking water to kindergartens today. The city's education system will operate as usual tomorrow. We will continue updating the public according to findings."
A critical clarification: Tami 4 machines, water bars, filters, and home filtration systems do not replace boiling. Water must be boiled before drinking, cooking, food preparation, medication preparation, and teeth brushing, even after filtration.
Karmiel residents are urged to follow the instructions and boil all water until receiving further notice from the Health Ministry.
