Radio personality Yinon Magal addressed the storm surrounding the documentary NAZA during his Tuesday broadcast on 103FM, sharply rejecting claims that Israel failed by not obtaining a copy of the film. At the same time, Magal made it clear that the incident warrants investigation, particularly regarding interviews given by IDF soldiers who appeared in the production.
"I'm hearing people say 'Israel failed to obtain the copy' --- was the General Staff reconnaissance unit supposed to get the copy?" Magal asked mockingly. "What was Israel supposed to do, you're all geniuses. Stop babbling, stop confusing people's minds. We interviewed soldiers, this incident needs to be investigated."
In his remarks, he drew a sharp distinction between two separate criticisms that have emerged around the film. He dismissed and ridiculed the notion that the state should have somehow secured a copy of the documentary before its release. However, he did not dismiss the need for an investigation following the soldiers' interviews.
Magal's comments came after IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir held a special consultation on the film with senior military officials. Zamir stated that the documentary represents a deliberate attempt to directly harm the legitimacy of the IDF and the State of Israel, emphasizing that the military operates in accordance with international law.
