TV Host Criticized for Gushing Bennett Interview

Channel 12 presenter Maayan Adam told Naftali Bennett "I love you" during a weekend interview, prompting accusations of abandoning journalistic objectivity

Maayan Adam

Mayan Adam, a presenter on Israel's Channel 12 television network, has come under sharp criticism following a weekend interview with former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in which she openly praised him and declared her affection for him.

Bennett, who served as prime minister from June 2021 to June 2022, was greeted with smiles and compliments when he appeared on the channel. Adam told him directly that she loved him and would be happy to see him return to positions of power. She also acknowledged upfront: "I won't be able to be objective."

The interview sparked anger among many social media users, who argued that she didn't even attempt to conceal her feelings or maintain the appearance of journalistic objectivity.

Television critic Einav Schiff wrote: "Eyal Berkowitz 'can't manage' to find criticism of Eisenkot, Mayan Adam ends an interview with Bennett saying 'thank you my beloved Bennett.' Don't they want Channel 14 to at least try to find examples of embarrassments from the other side?" The comment referenced Channel 14, a right-leaning Israeli news channel often accused of pro-government bias.

Yinon Magal responded sarcastically to the incident: "Channel 14 is a propaganda channel", suggesting that Channel 12's behavior mirrored the very bias critics attribute to its competitor.
