IDF and Shin Bet Eliminate Senior Kata’ib al-Mujahideen Terror Leader in Gaza

In a joint statement from the IDF and Shin Bet, officials announced that over 300 terror-related targets were struck across the Gaza Strip in the last week. These included militants, military compounds, weapons caches, anti-tank and sniper positions, among others. On June 16, 2025, Israeli forces targeted and killed Ali Saadi and Tzafi Alaa, senior commanders of the terrorist group Kata’ib al-Mujahideen, in a hideout in central Gaza. Alaa served as the military commander of the group’s southern Gaza brigade and was expected to succeed Asaad Abu Sharieh as head of the organization after Abu Sharieh was eliminated earlier this month. The slain commanders were directly involved in the kidnapping, murder, detention, and burial of Israeli civilians abducted by the group, including the late Gadi Haggi and Judy Lynn Weinstein Haggi. The bodies of the victims were recovered and returned to Israel in a joint IDF-Shin Bet operation at Alaa’s family home in Khan Younis. The IDF and Shin Bet reaffirm their commitment to dismantling terror infrastructure and safeguarding Israeli civilians amid ongoing hostilities.
