IDF Chief of Staff warns of surprise attack threat during new division exercise

IDF Chief of the General Staff LTG Eyal Zamir visited the first exercise of the newly formed 38th division, emphasizing lessons from past failures. "This week, we mark 53 years since the Yom Kippur War and three years since the October 7th Massacre — two painful shortcomings, two failures, with a connecting thread between them," Zamir stated. He stressed that "the possibility of a surprise attack must concern us all; the IDF must always be prepared for a surprise war." Zamir added: "A commander who does not question and entrenches himself in his perceptions will be defeated. Reality is constantly sending us signals, and it is our duty to identify those signals, listen to them and constantly adapt."
