IDF eliminates senior Hamas General Security Mechanism official in Gaza strike

The IDF and ISA eliminated Akram Bassam Shaaban Yassin, a senior official in Hamas' General Security Mechanism, in an aerial strike in Gaza City on Tuesday. The General Security Mechanism is a covert Hamas apparatus responsible for protecting senior Hamas officials, securing and transporting leaders between facilities, and compiling intelligence assessments. Yassin had been advancing terror attacks against IDF troops and Israeli civilians and attempting to restore Hamas military capabilities in violation of the ceasefire. The elimination is part of a series of targeted strikes to weaken the General Security Mechanism, following similar operations four months ago. Precision munitions and aerial surveillance were used to mitigate civilian harm.
