Iran has issued its first official response to British accusations linking Tehran to a foiled large-scale attack on the United States Air Force strategic bomber base at RAF Fairford in England, expressing anger at what it calls "fabricated" claims.
A formal statement from the Iranian regime's spokesman rejected reports of Iran's involvement in the sabotage plot: "The dissemination of such fabricated speculation, particularly following the criminal acts of aggression carried out by the United States and the Israeli regime against the Iranian people, will serve no purpose other than to fuel anti-Iran propaganda in Britain."
British authorities arrested at least five men who were planning an imminent large-scale attack on the US strategic bomber base in Britain, which has been used extensively for strikes against Iran during the war. The suspects were caught in the act of preparing the operation.
Members of the cell had acquired vehicles and planned to drive into the base, breach the fences and barriers, and detonate the bombers on the ground. According to British authorities, evidence at this stage points toward Tehran's involvement.
