Iranian state media reported Sunday that Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran's Supreme Leader, met with President Masoud Pezeshkian to mark three years since Pezeshkian assumed the presidency.
The announcement comes after IranWire, an independent news site, reported last week on rumors of a serious deterioration in the health of the Supreme Leader. According to multiple sources, Mojtaba Khamenei had not met with any Iranian cabinet members since the American strike on the Supreme Leader's compound on February 28. The sudden release of information about the presidential meeting appears to be an attempt by Iranian authorities to counter the health speculation.
Additionally, the Iranian news agency Maher published what it described as "the first video" of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei since he assumed office. The footage shows Khamenei attending what appears to be a religious study session. The video's release follows growing questions about the Supreme Leader's condition, as he has not appeared publicly or delivered speeches since taking office. Until now, only a few letters attributed to him have been published through official Iranian news agencies.
However, the agency did not specify when or where the video was filmed, leaving uncertainty about whether the footage is recent.
