Ireland's public broadcaster RTÉ has formally announced that its position regarding participation in the Eurovision Song Contest remains unchanged, and the country will neither compete in nor broadcast the 2027 competition.
In its official statement, RTÉ directly linked the decision to the war and humanitarian conditions in Gaza. According to the Irish broadcaster, participating in the contest at this time is "unjustifiable" in light of the loss of life and ongoing risk to civilian lives. The network also expressed deep concern over the continued prevention of independent access for international journalists into the Strip.
The European Broadcasting Union is awaiting formal decisions from Spain, the Netherlands, Iceland, and Belgium, which have not yet announced whether they will participate.
