Israel Orders New Mothers Discharged Within 12 Hours After Hospital Attack
After Soroka Hospital was badly damaged and shut down - the only major medical center in southern Israel - the Health Ministry told hospitals to reduce patient numbers as much as possible. One key change: new mothers will now be sent home just 12 hours after giving birth, instead of the usual 36 hours for normal births and 48 hours for C-sections. This comes from a letter that Dr. Safi Mendelovich, the Deputy Health Ministry Director, sent to hospital chiefs and health insurance companies, which ynet obtained. The emergency measures appear to be a response to damage from recent military strikes.
