Japan PM Takaichi asserts Northern Territories are Japanese, vows to pursue Russia peace treaty

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi stated that the Northern Territories are inherently Japanese territory under both historical and international law. She acknowledged that relations with Russia remain strained over Ukraine, but said Tokyo will continue efforts to secure a peace treaty and resolve the territorial dispute.
