Israeli police arrested a 28-year-old Jerusalem resident Sunday morning on suspicion of attempting to murder his brother. According to investigators, the suspect allegedly threw his sibling into an underground garbage container in the city's Gilo neighborhood, causing moderate injuries.

According to a statement from Israel Police, officers from the Jerusalem District apprehended the suspect in connection with the alleged attack on his brother. Police received a report Saturday about a person discovered inside an underground trash bin in Gilo. Emergency and rescue teams responded to the scene and successfully extracted the victim, who was transported to a hospital in moderate condition for medical treatment.

Following the incident, detectives from the Moriah police station launched an investigation into how the man ended up in the container. During their inquiry, investigators collected evidence and documentation that raised suspicion that the victim's 28-year-old brother was involved in the incident. He was subsequently arrested and questioned on suspicion of attempted murder. He is expected to appear before Jerusalem Magistrate's Court later today for a remand hearing.
