A five-year-old girl sustained critical injuries in a home accident in Bnei Brak when a heavy door slammed shut on her hand, partially severing several fingers.
The incident occurred in the family's haredi (ultra-Orthodox) home when the door closed with force on the child's hand. The weight and force of the impact caused partial amputation of multiple fingers as horrified family members witnessed the accident and immediately called for help.
Emergency medical teams from United Hatzalah arrived quickly at the scene. Responders Menachem Slovatitzky and Shlomo Katzin provided critical first aid, working to control severe bleeding. Crucially, they preserved the severed finger segments by placing them in a specialized ice pack, a procedure considered essential in the critical minutes following amputation, as it maintains tissue viability and significantly improves the chances of successful reattachment surgery.
