The IDF and Shin Bet announced Thursday that they eliminated Ramadan Muhammad Ashhadah Diab, head of the Popular Resistance Committees terror organization in Khan Yunis, in an airstrike in the southern Gaza city.
The Popular Resistance Committees is a Palestinian terror organization founded in 2000. Originally subordinate to Fatah, the group is now linked to Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran's Revolutionary Guards. Its operatives took part in the October 7 invasion of Israel, murdering and kidnapping civilians and soldiers. Throughout the war, the organization has carried out numerous terror attacks against IDF forces in coordination with Hamas.
According to the joint IDF-Shin Bet statement, Diab "advanced terror operations against IDF forces and Israeli civilians in recent times and worked to restore the capabilities of the Hamas terror organization, while systematically violating the ceasefire." The statement said he was eliminated from the air "in order to remove the threat he posed."
"Security forces are deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue to act to remove any immediate threat," the statement concluded.
