Gerrer Rebbe Declines to Sign UTJ Kol Koreh

The Gerrer Rebbe shlita is declining to sign the Chassidic Council of Torah Sages' kol koreh urging a vote for United Torah Judaism, which is customarily published in chareidi papers on the Friday before elections.

The Gerrer Rebbe shlita is declining to sign a kol koreh from the Chassidic Council of Torah Sages that calls on voters to support United Torah Judaism (UTJ).

The proclamation customarily runs in chareidi papers on the Friday before polling day.

Amit Segal, who reported the refusal, gave no reason for it.

The Rebbe has already backed UTJ on his own. As JFeed reported on October 18, Rabbi Yaakov Aryeh Alter shlita published an official call in Hamodia, a chareidi newspaper, urging his chassidim to vote for UTJ ahead of Israel's October 27 election.

That call came late. On October 15, the Gur-affiliated paper made no mention of the vote and printed no appeal from the Rebbe. Ynet reported at the time that Gur leaders were weighing whether to withhold an official call to their followers altogether.
