Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps delivered a warning to the United States earlier today: any further "unauthorized" movement of oil tankers through the Persian Gulf will be met with severe military action. President Trump did not appear concerned.
The regime in Tehran conveyed the message that "continued unauthorized smuggling of oil tankers and vessels through unmarked and unapproved sea routes in the Strait of Hormuz will trigger a devastating attack," Iranian sources said. According to officials familiar with the communication, Iran sent word to Washington that ongoing operations to break Tehran's chokehold on oil traffic through Hormuz would result in direct strikes on American military installations.
Iranian officials told American diplomatic contacts that if the tanker traffic continues outside the framework of agreements reached between the two countries during the initial ceasefire arrangement, Iran will consider it a security imperative to destroy U.S. bases in the region.
President Trump appears to have received the message but was not rattled. Shortly afterward, he posted to his social media platform a quote from a news report stating that more oil is now leaving the Hormuz Strait each day than before the war began.
