Bennett: I've changed on LGBTQ rights

Former PM Naftali Bennett admits his positions on religion-and-state and LGBTQ rights have shifted significantly from his earlier conservative stance, and says he has "zero" trust that Netanyahu won't launch an Iran strike to disrupt election day

Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett gave an interview Wednesday on Radio 103FM and addressed the elections set for less than a week from now.

He added: "Netanyahu is going home; we are not with him in a government." Asked whether he would sit with Mansour Abbas as he did five years ago, he replied that he stands behind that decision. "After four elections, after Netanyahu begged Mansour Abbas to come in and they closed a deal between them. I have a scoop here: Ben-Gvir also agreed. Today we will form a government only on the basis of Zionist parties that accept the foundational principles."

He also acknowledged a personal shift: "My positions on some things have changed. I still will not hand over a centimeter of Israel to an enemy; I will not establish a Palestinian state. But I have changed a lot in my position on religion and state and on LGBTQ rights. I was very conservative in the past, and today less so. I am in favor of absolute and full equal rights for LGBTQ people."

Asked whether he trusts Prime Minister Netanyahu not to initiate a strike on Iran in order to disrupt election day, Bennett replied: "I do not trust Netanyahu — zero."
