Moshe Klughaft, a strategic adviser who formerly consulted for prime ministers Netanyahu and Bennett, was interviewed Wednesday on Radio 103FM and laid out what he sees as the weak points of Netanyahu and Eisenkot.
"Netanyahu wants to talk about security, and contrary to what people think, he's willing to talk about the war and even about what happened on October 7, that's ultimately where his bloc stands united, and you can't drive a wedge in there," Klughaft said. "It doesn't matter if Avi Gil interviews him or Qatar issues come up, in the end everything gets pulled back to the place where the coalition is on one front."
The chareidi draft, he argued, is Netanyahu's vulnerability: "Yesterday, when the morning opened with the arrest of Chabad chassidim, the entire bloc split and Netanyahu started contradicting himself. There are issues that are bad for him and issues that are good for him, but in the end the opposition doesn't know how to focus on those issues, and first among them the draft issue."
"Netanyahu is a walking message sheet. He has very precise terminology. Most of the coalition is in favor of those who learn not enlisting, so Netanyahu will never say to draft everyone," the strategic adviser explained. "The election in general is eliminate terrorists versus draft chareidim, it's a tug of war, who shouts it louder."
