A video from protests in Albania has drawn widespread reaction on social media after a man waving a Palestinian flag had it torn from his hands by another demonstrator.
The clip, circulated online, shows the man holding the flag aloft until a bystander approaches and yanks it away. Albanian commenters responding to the footage wrote repeatedly: "This isn't Paris."
The reference to the French capital touches on the controversy surrounding Palestinian flags at European demonstrations. Paris has become a prominent stage for pro-Palestinian protests, where Palestinian flags have been waved alongside political slogans.
Protests in Albania have intensified in recent days, with clashes erupting in the capital Tirana between demonstrators and police. The protests, which began over opposition to a luxury tourism project on the country's coast and allegations of corruption, have expanded to include demands for improved university conditions, financial aid for students, and a fight against government corruption.
During the confrontations, protesters threw stones and sharp objects at officers, and police used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowds. The protests have spread to other cities across the country, and Prime Minister Edi Rama has rejected calls to resign.
