Lebanese PM warns against dragging Lebanon into conflicts serving foreign interests
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stated that residents of southern Lebanon have paid a heavy price in lives, livelihoods and homes, following a meeting with President Joseph Aoun. He emphasized their right to live in security, free of war, displacement and destruction. Salam warned against "dragging Lebanon into a new absurd adventure in the service of foreign interests" and bringing Lebanon into conflicts it cannot bear. He stressed that defending Lebanon requires prioritizing national interest, and that decisions on war and peace must remain with the state and its constitutional institutions. "We will not accept the fact that a fate they did not choose will be imposed on the Lebanese," Salam said.
