Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has officially confirmed the identity of the target in the latest Gaza strike: the commander of Hamas's Rafah Brigade. In a joint statement with Defense Minister Israel Katz, Netanyahu framed the operation as part of a broader strategic campaign to systematically eliminate Hamas commanders throughout the Strip—a campaign he described as one of the war's most significant achievements.

"The IDF has now struck the commander of the Rafah Brigade in the Hamas terror organization, following the earlier elimination this week of the Khan Yunis Brigade commander and additional senior officials in the organization," the statement from the Prime Minister's Office and Defense Ministry read.

Netanyahu and Katz emphasized the message Israel is sending: "Our message is clear: no terrorist is immune and Hamas will not remain in Gaza."

The two leaders concluded by commending Israel's security forces for the successful operation: "We commend the IDF and Shin Bet, who are acting with determination to remove threats and defend the citizens of Israel."
