Netanyahu tells NYC Mayor Mamdani Jews don't feel safe

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Jews no longer feel safe in New York City, delivering sharp accusations against Mayor Zohran Mamdani during his visit for the UN General Assembly address. "Shame on you, Jews don't feel safe in New York any more," Netanyahu stated, according to Open Source Intel.

The prime minister accused Mamdani of having associates "like Hasan Piker that say America deserves 9/11" and alleged that Mamdani's wife "likes posts of October 7th." Netanyahu added: "You tried to silence me, you can't silence me."

The exchange escalates an ongoing feud between the two leaders. Earlier this week, Mamdani called Netanyahu "a war criminal and an architect of a horrific genocide of the Palestinian people" in a CNN interview, as JFeed reported. Netanyahu responded at the time by accusing Mamdani of "supporting the terror monster of Hamas" and "inciting riots against New York Jews."

In his latest remarks, Netanyahu told Mamdani directly: "You are trying to stop me from coming here. You are trying to silence me. You cannot stop me, nor can you silence the truth." He stated that "Israel prevented genocide and did not commit genocide," claiming that "Mamdani's friends in Hamas would have committed genocide against us if we hadn't stopped them."

Netanyahu also referenced antisemitism, declaring that Jews in New York are afraid. "The days when Jews were led like sheep to the slaughter are over," he stated. "Today we have a country. We have an army."

The prime minister's visit to New York has been compressed to approximately seven hours due to security concerns, as JFeed reported. Under the plan, his plane lands in New Jersey, he proceeds directly to UN headquarters for his address, and returns to Israel immediately afterward.

Mamdani has faced criticism for remaining silent regarding Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's visit to New York while vocally condemning Netanyahu. The mayor has acknowledged that New York City has no legal authority to enforce the International Criminal Court warrant against the Israeli prime minister.
