During an episode of "The Debate", a podcast hosted by "Neturei Karta" member Yoel Hirsch, the co-host and guest attorney Barak Cohen addressed recent police actions in Jerusalem's Mea Shearim neighborhood.
Hirsch displayed protest signs that had been confiscated by authorities during a raid, while Cohen, an activist and lawyer, asserted that all the materials were completely legal and that police had no justification for seizing them.
"Neturei Karta" is an ultra-Orthodox group that opposes Zionism and does not recognize the State of Israel's legitimacy. The two criticized law enforcement for what they characterized as misplaced priorities, conducting raids to remove signs in Mea Shearim while failing to effectively address violent crime elsewhere. Hirsch emphasized that while he rejects the state's legitimacy entirely, he expects police to operate within the bounds of the law, which he claims they are ignoring in this case.
