Reserve Major General Ofer Winter, who recently launched his new "Amcha Yisrael" (Your People Israel) party, and Moti Leitner, representing the "Haredi Public" party, crossed paths over Shabbat at Jerusalem's Waldorf Astoria hotel. According to journalist Michael Shemesh, the two were observed engaged in an unusually lengthy conversation on the hotel grounds.
The encounter has triggered widespread speculation in political circles, particularly given recent reports of exploratory contacts between the two regarding a potential joint slate for the Knesset, Israel's parliament. With party registration lists closing this week, the timing of the meeting has intensified questions about whether the two fledgling parties might combine forces.
