In an extraordinary broadcast that aired on Iran's state-run Qoran TV channel on August 15, 2026, presenter Maryam Qasemi openly solicited viewer contributions for a fundraising campaign with a singular purpose: to finance an assassination attempt on U.S. President Donald Trump.

During the broadcast, Qasemi openly wished for the U.S. president's death and even urged viewers to increase the bounty on his head.

Opening her remarks with a declaration of Iranian unity around the concept, Qasemi stated: "The shared wish of all the Iranian people these days is that one day we will come and announce the news of Trump's death on the program. With G-d's help, this will happen soon." She added a personal note, saying: "I hope this honor will fall to me."

At one point during the broadcast, Qasemi turned directly to home viewers and asked them to name specific amounts they would be willing to contribute toward the goal. "We want to ask our audience, how much of a reward would you give to Trump's assassin? Tell us, give real numbers... in my opinion it should be a very large prize," she said.

According to figures announced during the program, 81 million tomans (equivalent to 810 million Iranian rials) had already been collected for the would-be assassin by the time of the broadcast. Qasemi noted that a physician, who identified himself as "doctor," decided to round up the sum and added his own donation, bringing the total to 100 million tomans.

Despite the large numbers in local currency, the amount translates to a modest sum in U.S. dollars. The initial 810 million rials collected is estimated at approximately $435.
