Dozens of ultra-Orthodox protesters blocked the main entrance to Jerusalem near the Chords Bridge on Saturday afternoon, demonstrating against public buses operating on the Shabbat. The blockade began in the late afternoon hours while Shabbat was still in effect, with demonstrators positioning themselves at key intersections and halting traffic flow.
According to reports from the scene, the protesters were voicing strong opposition to continued public transportation on Shabbat, which they argue violates the sanctity of the day and undermines the Jewish character of the holy city. The blockade caused significant traffic delays in the area, forcing vehicles to seek alternative routes.
