New video footage circulating widely on social media captures Russian soldiers intercepting an unmanned aerial vehicle during nighttime operations using concentrated small arms fire.

The clip shows troops opening fire on a low-flying object, ultimately scoring a direct hit that causes the drone to explode dramatically above ground level before crashing.

Throughout the engagement, the soldiers employed tracer rounds, ammunition that illuminates along its flight path. This type of munition allows shooters to visually track their fire trajectory in darkness and adjust their aim against moving targets. However, the bright tracers simultaneously reveal the firing position to enemy forces, creating a tactical trade-off.

The soldiers visible in the footage were not wearing full ballistic protection gear or standard combat uniforms, suggesting the incident likely occurred in a rear area far from direct front-line contact. The episode illustrates the daily challenge of countering drone threats and demonstrates that even basic infantry weapons can effectively neutralize such aerial targets under certain conditions.
