A military source confirmed to Kan News on Tuesday that Israeli forces carried out warning fire toward Lebanese army troops, following the Lebanese military's own announcement of the incident.
According to the Israeli military source, the warning fire was carried out after Lebanese forces crossed the agreed line using a bulldozer.
The confirmation came roughly half an hour after Lebanon's army said IDF forces had fired at one of its units deployed in the village of Zawtar al-Gharbiya, an area it described as part of the so called pilot zones. The Lebanese military said its forces would continue deploying in the area despite the strike, which it characterized as an Israeli attempt to halt its mission of positioning troops in the pilot zones.
The pilot zones refer to areas designated for an initial phase of Lebanese army deployment as part of the broader arrangement governing the buffer zone along the Israel-Lebanon border, an arrangement that has remained a persistent friction point since the ceasefire took hold.
